We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. All I can say is that blurring the skin this bad contrasts too much with the surrounding and looks too plastic. You won't expect anyone in the world too have a skin this blurred and it looks totally different from the rest of the picture.
What I recommend is that you either keep the image raw, because most images with rough skin or similair stuff won't make it unappealing. Otherwise, try lowering the opacity of the blur by using the fade in photoshop.
